Western AgCredit Board Appoints Tony K. Powell as President and CEO

The Western AgCredit Board of Directors has appointed Tony K. Powell as the organization's next President and CEO. He will officially assume the role on October 1, 2026.

Powell has been a valued member of the Western AgCredit team since 2003, and he has served in the role of Chief Credit Officer since 2013.

“I am honored to be named CEO of Western AgCredit and grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside our outstanding employees, directors, and customers,” said Powell. “Western AgCredit plays an essential role in providing dependable credit to agriculture and rural communities in our territory. I am committed to continuing that mission with the same excellence, integrity, and customer focus that have defined our organization.”

Kate Nye, Chair of the CEO Selection Committee and Vice-Chair of the Board, said, “The Selection Committee worked diligently throughout this process to identify the best candidate to lead Western AgCredit into the future. We were encouraged by the exceptional caliber of candidates who applied and are confident that Tony Powell is the right person to lead our organization into its next chapter. Current President and CEO David Brown will remain with Western AgCredit through the end of the year to support a smooth leadership transition. “Tony has been an integral part of Western AgCredit for many years, and I’m pleased to see him step into this new role,” said Brown. “His experience, leadership and deep understanding of our organization and our customers will serve him well as CEO. I have tremendous confidence in Tony and look forward to supporting him as he takes on this new responsibility.”

The Board of Directors expressed appreciation for Brown's leadership and service and looks forward to working closely with both Brown and Powell during the transition period. Under Powell's leadership, Western AgCredit will continue its mission of providing dependable credit to agricultural producers.
